I just wanted to drop in and say hi. We are relatively new to the podcasting scene at the conventions. But I just wanted to get to know everyone and hopefully I'll get to see some of you this year at the convention.
Much love,
Michele

AHHH Costumes? I know mine isn't going to be original but it will take me 4 months to fit into it :)

Sad confession...
I've been going to Dragon*Con since about 1995... and I have only worn a costume... ONCE, and even then... only for about 3 hours.

So I had to post this only because. As a newb podcaster, even though we have been doing this a little over a year and been to several smaller cons, I feel completely overwhelmed by Dragon*Con and it's still only March.
Any suggestions? I feel lost in a sea of questions, and no idea who to ask. I'd love to chat one on one with a helpful veteran.
I think if I'm getting overwhelmed now, my head may explode when we do finally get to the Con :)
BTW, I freely admit I have control issues, thus the premature freak out :D

Isn't that part of the fun? :D
Well, I can help, I've been going to Dragon*Con since 1997. Also we just started the OFFICIAL podcast of Dragon*Con at:
http://www.dragon-pod.com/
You can lots of info there over time. Our first episode came out a few days ago with the Chairman and 'man in charge' of the entire party. Go and subscribe you might get some insight, as we plan to have newbie tips and tricks, etc, over the next weeks leading to the con!

Hey Michele,
First things first...deep breaths. :D
Many of us, myself included, were there at one point.
As Derek mentioned we started the Dragon*Pod podcast to help out folks just like yourself so please check it out. On that first show we invited our listeners to visit these forums to let us know what they'd like us to cover and also to start a community where we can help each other out. We created a specific forum right here on these forums to let folks ask questions and get answers from other attendees. It's located right here...
http://www.dragon-pod.com/vboard/forumdisplay.php?f=43
Feel free to post any questions there and I bet you'll start to see several experienced attendees, both podcasters and listeners, coming by to help everyone out.
You might also want to check out the popular Dragon*Con Live Journal located here...
http://community.livejournal.com/dragoncon/
There are all kinds of posts there so the topics can go in all directions good/bad but there are several newbie posts there all the time and many helpful people who respond.
Also another fellow podcaster, Steve Wright, recently started a Dragon*Con podcast. It's called the Dragon in Georgia podcast. Steve is a member of these forums and you can find his podcast here...

Please feel free to head over to Dragon*Pod's General Discussion (http://www.dragon-pod.com/vboard/forumdisplay.php?f=43) forum and help us start a great resource for everyone!
