Hi,
Last year was my first Dragon*Con and I really enjoyed meeting everyone.
I am proud to report that both of my podcasts have past their first year anniversaries, though so far the Brain Science Podcast (http://brainsciencepodcast.com) has been much more successful than Books and Ideas (http://booksandideas.com).
Last year I had a great time on the science podcasting panel with Dr. Pamela Gay from the Astronomy Cast (http://astronomycast.com).
Since then we have started a group on Facebook for science podcasters and their supporters (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=18830716096). I wondering if we might apply for a booth for Science Podcasters. I know Skepticality had a booth last year, but it was hard to keep it manned. I thought maybe if all the science people teamed up, we could keep a booth manned and filled with information about science podcasts.

If you are looking for a 'booth' or table like we had last year, they have the information about them on the Dragon*Con website. There are two ways to go. One is a vendor booth, where you can sell whatever you want. The other way to go, is what we had, a 'fan table'. Those are free, but you can ONLY sell stuff that you create, or is specifically about the topic or whatever it is. Like, stuff for whatever group or person who the table is for.

I had in mind a fan table, but my idea was to have a place where lots of science podcasters could share information about their shows. I hadn't even thought about selling stuff, to tell the truth.

Good idea. Just write an email to get one, and call it: "Science Podcaster Society" or something. And then you can allow all of the folks who have science podcasts to put their fliers, and possibly sell T-Shirts or cheap CD's of all their episodes. Heck, you don't NEED to sell anything, just be a place where you make a schedule and have the different science podcast hosts/producers sit at it for shifts. :)

I have been approved for a fan table at Dragon*Con and I will be calling it SCIENCEPODCASTERS.ORG, which is the name of the new blog I have started at http://sciencepodcasters.org. This is a site where science podcasters can post announcements and show notes with links back to their sites. The idea is to use the blog format to increase the search engine visibility of science podcasts. Although I have had inquiries from several skeptical podcasts, we are currently keeping our focus on pure science shows. I hope you will tell your favorite science podcaster to check out our site, even if they aren't coming to Dragon*Con.

Cool,
Might bring some more to Dragon*Con even! If not this year, definitely next!
