Hey, we here at Beatnik Turtle are all signed up and will be there at the 'con again this year! We can't wait to come back, because we had a blast in '07.

Definitely write us if you want to hang out, talk music or podcasting, or would like to interview us while we're there. Our Song of the Day project is now over, and we aren't nearly so stressed as we were last year.

...except for Randy and Jason who have a book coming out on Aug 5th: The Indie Band Survival Guide (http://tinyurl.com/2cress). It's published by Macmillan (http://us.macmillan.com/theindiebandsurvivalguide), and Jason and Randy are also available for podcasts or interviews with those podcasters that are looking for material and find author interviews or music up their alley. We talk about podcasting in detail in the book (because of the great relationships that we had with you guys!) and a number of podcasts that are often featured at this 'con are in the book as a result.

And, yes, we'll have our instruments and possibly even some recording gear, so if you would like to hear us play, just ask. We'll see if we're available. The earlier you ask, the more likely it is that we can accommodate you. And if you have a particular song you want to hear, we need to know soon so we can rehearse!

We can't wait!

---

For those who we have yet to meet, here's a brief background as to who we are:

Beatnik Turtle is a prolific and fiercely independent independent rock group based in Chicago. We have 18 albums, and have written theme songs to many podcasts (http://thesongoftheday.com/index.cgi?_d=070107&_a=temp&_f=podtrack) including PodCulture, Playing for Keeps, The Gigcast, and Wasteland (Mur Lafferty's latest work).

We are an eight-piece band (but only about 4 can come to the 'con!) that includes a full horn section. We have been making music for the past 11 years. We spent all of 2007 releasing a new song every day through our Web site, TheSongOfTheDay.com (http://TheSongOfTheDay.com). It was released as a podcast, and we still continue to release a new song each week through that podcast.

All of the music released from our website is Creative Commons, but we naturally also sell it through iTunes and everywhere else. And ALL of our music is available to podcasters on a podsafe basis, which includes over 400 songs. If you would like some, just ask.

If you want to hear what we sound like, check out our sample page at our Song of the Day (http://thesongoftheday.com/index.cgi?_w=1&_a=temp&_f=suggestions) website.

Cool!

Worst case, I am sure someone won't mind if you do some musical entertainment during the weekend!
